Extraordinary Opening of the Senate

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Republic, the Senate has organised a series of initiatives. The first one will be “Italy is Woman”.

From 6 March to 7 June 2026, at Palazzo Madama, on the following dates, it will be possible to visit the exhibition

“The Face of Women – 80 Years of the Republic:
Stories of Ingenuity up to the Constituent Mothers”

In addition to the exhibition, which forms part of the programme “80 Years of the Republic: Stories of Ingenuity up to the Constituent Mothers”, visitors will also have the opportunity to visit Palazzo Madama, seat of the Senate of the Republic.

In detail, the programme for the first extraordinary opening is as follows:

· Friday 6 and Monday 9 March, days exclusively dedicated to schools;

· Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 March, opening to the public. Public access will be FROM 10:00 a.m. TO 8:00 p.m. (last entry at 7:30 p.m.).

To take part in the visit, it will be necessary to collect an admission ticket by presenting oneself, on the day of the public opening, at the entrance at Piazza Madama 11, from 9:00 a.m. onwards. Each visitor may request, subject to availability, a maximum of four tickets, selecting a time slot between 10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. (every thirty minutes).

The visits, free of charge and lasting approximately 50 minutes, will be conducted by Senate staff, who will illustrate the main historical, artistic and institutional features of the representative halls and the most evocative areas of Palazzo Madama.

Visitors are advised to wear appropriate attire; a jacket and tie are not required for men. Taking photographs or recording video is not permitted.

It will not be permitted to bring bags, backpacks, sharp or blunt objects, or bulky items, which must in any case be deposited before entry.

The next scheduled openings, for which details regarding access procedures and ticket collection will be published at a later date, are:

· Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 April;

· Friday 1 May, Saturday 2 May and Sunday 3 May;

· Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 May;

· Saturday 30 May, Sunday 31 May, Monday 1 June and Tuesday 2 June;

· Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 June.

PLEASE NOTE THAT ADVANCE BOOKINGS ARE NEVER POSSIBLE AND THAT THE SENATE HAS NOT ENTRUSTED ANY TOUR OPERATOR WITH THE PROMOTION OR ORGANISATION OF THESE VISITS.
