Extraordinary Opening of the Senate

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Republic, the Senate has organized a series of initiatives. The first will be “Italy is Woman.”

From 6 March to 7 June 2026, at Palazzo Madama, on the days indicated below, it will be possible to visit the exhibition:

“The Face of Women – 80 Years of the Republic:
Stories of Ingenuity up to the Constituent Mothers”

In addition to the exhibition, which forms part of the programme “80 Years of the Republic: Stories of Ingenuity up to the Constituent Mothers,” visitors will also have the opportunity to visit Palazzo Madama, the seat of the Senate of the Republic.

In detail, the programme of the forthcoming extraordinary openings is as follows:

Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 April – opening to the public.
Access hours for the public opening are scheduled FROM 10.00 a.m. TO 8.00 p.m. (last admission at 7.30 p.m.).

To take part in the visit, it will be necessary to collect an admission ticket by presenting oneself, on the day of the public opening, at the entrance in Piazza Madama no. 11, from 9.00 a.m. onwards. Each visitor may request, while supplies last, a maximum of four tickets, selecting a time slot between 10.00 a.m. and 8.00 p.m. (every thirty minutes).

The visits, free of charge and lasting approximately 50 minutes, are conducted by Senate staff, who will illustrate the main historical, artistic and institutional features of the representative rooms and the most evocative areas of Palazzo Madama.

Visitors are advised to wear appropriate attire; a jacket and tie are not required for men. Photography and video recording are not permitted.

It will not be permitted to bring bags, backpacks, sharp or blunt objects, or bulky items, which must be deposited before entering.

The next openings scheduled, for which the procedures for access and ticket collection will be published at a later date, are:

  • Friday 1 May, Saturday 2 May and Sunday 3 May;

  • Saturday 9 May and Sunday 10 May;

  • Saturday 30 May, Sunday 31 May, Monday 1 June and Tuesday 2 June;

  • Saturday 6 June and Sunday 7 June.

PLEASE NOTE THAT ADVANCE BOOKINGS ARE NEVER POSSIBLE AND THAT THE SENATE HAS NOT ENTRUSTED ANY TOUR OPERATOR WITH THE PROMOTION OR ORGANISATION OF THESE VISITS.
