The Senate buildings - Palazzo Madama (First floor)
Signing Hall
The coffered ceiling with gilt decorations and the frieze with its little putti, fruit, vine stocks, flowers, and medallions depicting historical events at the time of Cardinal Alessandro de' Medici, then Pope Leo XI, date back to the 17th century. The walls are hung with two tapestries from the Medici collection that depict the story of Tobit and his son Tobias.
Before the adoption of the new electronic system, Senators came to this room to sign the attendance book before sitting in the Chamber.
